Frequently Asked Questions
Homeopathic medicine is a type of holistic medicine that uses highly diluted substances to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. It is based on the principle of “like cures like,” meaning that a substance that may cause symptoms in a healthy person is used in a diluted form to address similar symptoms in someone who is ill. Homeopathic medicine does not include essential oils or herbs; this is a common misconception.
Homeopathic medicine is a 200-year-old medicine that follows specific principles: like treats like, one medicine at a time, the minimum dose, and prescriptions based on the TOTALITY of the symptoms. Homeopathic medicine truly is HOLISTIC in nature; the homeopath considers the mental, emotional, and physical symptoms of the client when prescribing a homeopathic remedy. Protocols that use potentized medicine to treat named conditions are not homeopathic.
Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted substances; they do not contain any of the original substance material. Homeopathic medicines are non-toxic and incredibly safe when used in accordance with the principles of homeopathy.
People may seek homeopathic care for a variety of acute and chronic concerns such as seasonal allergies, pain, stress, anxiety, hormone imbalances, insomnia, neuralgia, developmental delays, tantrums, adhd, autism, headaches, digestive discomfort, acne, PMS, nocturnal enuresis, or recurrent minor illnesses. However, homeopathic medicine does not treat conditions; it supports the individual. Once the individual achieves balance, the symptoms fade away.
Some homeopathic literature says that drinking coffee can interfere with the beneficial effects of homeopathic medicine. While that may happen with some individuals, it is not very common. From what I have seen personally, individuals who are coffee drinkers can still enjoy coffee while under homeopathic chronic care. I personally drink coffee, and it has never interfered with my homeopathic remedies.
It is not advisable to use strong-smelling essential oils medicinally while under homeopathic chronic care. Peppermint and mint tea should be avoided while using homeopathic medicine. Generally speaking, mint toothpaste is not problematic with most individuals.
When taking a homeopathic remedy, timing is important.
- Take your homeopathic remedy with a clean mouth.
- Wait about 15–30 minutes before or after eating, drinking (except water), brushing your teeth, or chewing gum.
