Thrive Market

Some women LOVE shopping at Costco, but not me. It’s often crowded and not very close to where I live. (The closest Costco is a forty-minute drive from my home). I buy meat, dairy, and fresh produce from a local farm store, but it has a limited selection of organic pantry food. Organic food is expensive, and the cost of everything has increased in the last four years.

I love filling my pantry with food from Thrive Market, a buying club for health-conscious shoppers. Thrive Market offers a good selection of organic and non-GMO foods. It advertises an average of 30% savings off retail prices. Some people say Thrive Market is expensive, but that has not been my experience. It depends on what you buy. There is a membership fee of around $60.00 per year. However, quick calculations show my annual membership pays for itself with savings on just two items.

Organic Valley Ghee – one jar /month

Thrive Market – $15.29 / One-year supply (12 jars)– $183.48
iHerb – $17.07 / One-year supply – $204.84
Savings estimate – $21.36

Einkorn Flour – one bag /month
Thrive Market – $8.00 bag / One-year supply (12 bags) – $96.00
local store – $11.49 bag /One-year supply – $137.88
Saving estimate – $41.88

The estimated savings on these two items are $62.24.
The annual membership fee for Thrive Market is $60.00.

Those numbers are conservative; I probably use at least two bags of Jovial Einkorn Flour monthly. Thrive Market can be economical, depending on the monthly shopping list. The quality of the food is also excellent. I love the Jovial crushed tomatoes. The cost per jar is high, $4.99 for an 18 oz jar. However, canned tomatoes are packaged in cans, and I prefer organic tomatoes in glass jars.

My orders arrive at my front door, which is very convenient. (No driving or crowds!). Thrive offers free shipping for orders over $49.00, so if you plan your orders well, there is no shipping cost.

Thrive market sometimes includes samples or gifts with orders.

I love the convenience of Thrive Market, and the prices for most of the items I order are less expensive than other stores.
